Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery, located in North Hollywood and Burbank, California, is renowned for the Portal of the Folded Wings Shrine to Aviation, which honors aviation pioneers like Amelia Earhart. Founded in 1923, its entrance was designed by Kenneth McDonald Jr. and decorated by Federico A. Giorgi. The cemetery became notable for concerts and picnics but faced scandal when its founders were convicted of fraud. Taken over by the state and later bought by Pierce Brothers in 1950, the site was restored after earthquake damage in 1994 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
